I had two things that brought me some sense of refuge during the weeks of the US-led invasion of Iraq, my beads “سِبْحه” given to me by my father and my orange childhood blanket that formed part of my book cover (Rupturing Architecture), both remain with me till this day. Farah shared several photographs of the streets of Baghdad during the first few days of occupation, the last is a photo of the entrance to Baghdad Zoo where she dedicated her energy to rescuing the animals to places of safety.
