Basma shared several photographs that depict two different states of being: refuge and violence. Photographs of her enjoying life in the city and next to statues and sculptures of famous literary and art figures in Iraq’s history sit next to photos of urban ruin and decay in the city around the time of the US-led occupation in Baghdad.
